Tom and Mayella

There are many similarities and differences between Tom and Mayella.  They are in very similar predicatments too.  Both have to face a trial that neither want.  Also the both have been injured beyond repair.  They both have been threatened by Mr. Ewell or would have been.  They make mistakes thoughout their testimony too.

Tom and Mayella have just as many differences as similarities.  Both have made mistakes but they differed in stature.  Tom’s angred people.  Mayella’s did harm to her father.  As i said before they both had injuries beyond repair.  These injuries differed in thier stature as well.  Mayella was injured physically and emotionally by her father.  Tom was hurt by a cotton gin and was only physically hurt.  Finally the most obvious difference is that Tom is black and Mayella is white.

So, as you can see, they have many similarities.  Tom and Mayella both have been hurt.  Also they have differenciating statures in injury and mistakes.  I have enjoyed the last few chapters and hope that our next book is interesting too.

TKM post

I belive that it is possible that Scout could have stopped the mob.  She was never the girly type to just sit at home playing with dolls; she was more of the tomboy type.  Second she WAS THERE to begin with.  I think those critics need to see more of the world before they make conclusions like those.

Scout was never a girly-girl.  She was more of a tomboy.  She seemed to like fighting and hanging out with her brother and Dill a lot.  Like her first year of school she beat up little Walter Cunningham.  Also she picked a fight with Jem just to prove he was still as childish as she was.  That seems to prove, to me, that she could be courageous enough to jump in front of a mob, even without knowing what she’s doing, and defend her dad.

Another thing that makes me feel like she could pursuade a mob to disperse is that she was THERE in the first place.  Anyone with a shred of decency can’t possibly kill a girl’s dad right in front of her.  Also she brought up Walter and Mr. Cunningham’s  entailments right in front of him.  After that there was no way he was going to kill Atticus.  That is what I think,

P.S. chapter 18 and 19 Are good.
